We are delighted you have chosen Southern Cross Beachfront Holiday Apartments for your stay on the Gold Coast. Peter & Inessa Hesz, the Resident Managers of Southern Cross, wish you a warm welcome and a pleasant stay.
This information will provide you with everything you need to know about the area, our building and your apartment.
We ask that you treat air-conditioners with care. Shut ALL doors & windows for the air conditioner to work efficiently. Remember excessive use wastes energy and excessive water usage.
Please note that all apartments are privately owned with us managing them on the owners’ behalf. Please respect the apartments and their contents and ensure you report any breakages or problems to Reception as soon as possible so that we can arrange repairs and/or contact the apartment owner accordingly.
Please ensure that children are supervised on the balcony at all times.
Do not throw anything off the balcony, including rubbish and cigarette butts as they hit people & damage the furniture below.
Please do not place towels or other articles over the railings as this is in breach of the Body Corporate By-laws.
We understand accidents sometimes happen! Should you break anything please let us know immediately. If it’s a larger issue (e.g. the TV screen or red wine / coffee stain on the carpets!) we would like to agree the cost with you before you leave. If you notice that some items in the Room are missing, broken or requires repair, please let us know at reception so that maintenance can fix the problem.
CABLE TELEVISION (FOXTEL)
All apartments are connected to Foxtel Cable TV. You can also watch free to air channels through the Foxtel system – please do not change the channel. If you are having any issues with finding Foxtel, go to the “source” button on your TV remote and check that you have selected either HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3 or HDMI4.
Foxtel Cable TV is provided free of charge. To operate please turn on the TV with the TV Remote. Then use the Foxtel Remote to change ALL stations/channels including free to air stations/channels, and for volume adjustments. The Foxtel should remain on at all times.
The items given on check in are complimentary and for your comfort until you can get to a supermarket. Additional items such as Toilet Paper, Dishwashing Detergent, Laundry Detergent are available for purchase at Reception.
Management reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee to your credit card if the apartment is left in an unsatisfactory condition on departure. Please ensure that all rubbish is removed, and dishes are cleaned prior to departure. Charges will vary depending on time taken to clean the apartment.
There is a DVD player in each apartment for your use.
The electrical current in Australia is 240 volts, 50 cycles. For adaptors or transformers, please contact reception.
Smoke detectors are installed in all apartments. In the event of a fire. Please be aware that the burning of food may cause the smoke detectors to activate.
Guests are responsible for any fees due to services attending a smoke or heat alarm call out caused by careless or inattentive actions.
In the event of a fire requiring an evacuation the audible evacuation alarm will sound. The Fire Evacuation Procedure can be found behind your front door. Please familiarize yourself with your nearest emergency exit and evacuation point by checking the diagram on the back of your front door. Do not attempt to take possessions with you. Do not use the elevators.
ALL FIRE DOORS ARE ON AN ALARM SITUATION. PLEASE EXIT THROUGH FOYERS OR GARAGE ROLLER DOORS. Do not exit through fire doors except in an emergency.
HOUSEKEEPING /APARTMENT SERVICING
Southern Cross Apartments is not a hotel. We are a fully self-contained holiday letting building.
Housekeeping staff are on the premises between the hours of 8:30 am – 2:00 pm. Any housekeeping requirements after this time may need to be attended to the following day.
If your stay 9 days or longer, fresh linen will be provided mid stay. If your stay is for 14 days or longer, your apartment will be serviced every 7 days.
Daily servicing can be provided upon request, however a service fee applies.
Our tariff includes a complimentary starter pack, which includes tea, coffee, milk, detergent, toilet paper etc in your apartment on arrival. Supermarkets and convenience stores are located nearby for further supplies during your stay. You may purchase essential items from reception for a small fee.
There are additional pillows and blankets in your wardrobes. Baby cots, highchairs and extra beds are available upon request. Please contact reception on ‘9’ to arrange.
A hairdryer is in the bathroom drawer of your apartment.
Each apartment is individually owned, so your apartment may have its own nuances. We have provided a general overview here, but if you are still having any issues, please don’t hesitate to speak to us at reception.
The Dishwasher: It’s very simple, we promise! Sprinkle detergent directly in the dispenser. Close the door and push start. Further supplies are available at reception for $0.50. All cups, glass, pots and pans should be stacked upside down.
The Fridge/freezer: You should not need to adjust any settings. If you run into any difficulties (e.g. it’s not cooling efficiently) please let us know.
Each apartment has a washing machine and dryer for guests to use. We ask that you do not overload the machines. We also provide a clothes airer for you to hang towels and clothing on. Please refrain from hanging anything on balconies.
Dryers: Please clean the Lint filter after each use.
Irons and Ironing Boards: For your convenience, irons and ironing boards are located in the laundry in each unit.
All units provide blankets to keep you warm in winter. They are in the wardrobe.
LINEN/BEACH & POOL TOWELS
All linen for use inside the apartment is provided free included in the tariff. If your stay exceeds 8 nights, we provide a fresh set of linen included in the tariff. If you require an additional set of linen this is available for a cost of $30.00 per set.
We have Beach/Pool towels available for Hire at Reception. The cost of hire is $5.00 per towel per stay. Please note that we charge a Bond to your booking account of $20 per towel which is removed when the towel is returned to Reception.
All apartments and our pool area are strictly non-smoking.
Smoking on the balcony of your unit is permitted as long as it does not interfere with the enjoyment of surrounding guests.
Excessive smoking resulting in complaints to our Reception Team by surrounding guests, will result in smokers being asked to move to another location or off site.
Please dispose of your cigarette butts in the appropriate outside bins and not in the bins in the rooms or discarded in our gardens or carpark area.
Extra charges may apply if unit is required to be treated to remove any smoking smells.
Free Wi-Fi connection is available in every apartment and by the swimming pool area. Username and password will be provided on the day of arrival.
