The Swell Sculpture Festival starts in just a few days time! This annual celebration of outdoor art, takes place from the 12th to the 21st of September 2014.
Visit Pacific Parade in Currumbin during this time, and you'll be treated to the sight of over 50 sculptures built by very talented local, national and international artists, peppered along the coastline.
Over the 10 days the exhibition never closes, it's an all hours display so you can visit at any time. Enjoy a picnic surrounded by sculptures or visit in the evening and view them with the twinkling night sky as the back drop.
There are also informative artist talks, artist master classes and children's workshops to enjoy during the Swell Sculpture Festival.

If you are going to be on the Gold Coast next weekend (Friday 29th to Sunday 31st of August) why not check out the Gold Coast Show?!
The Gold Coast Show is an annual event that was previously held at Parklands (1989-2013), but this year the event moves home to the Gold Coast Turf Club and Showgrounds.
The move to it's new location is due to Parklands being transformed into the Athlete's Village in time for the 2018 Commonwealth Games that is taking place on the Gold Coast.
With it's new home they are also promising some new innovative entertainment mixed in with the traditional features you'd expect to find such as animals - show bags - carnival rides - art and craft displays - wood chopping - carnival food and fireworks.
The Gold Coast Show 2014 is on from August 29th to August 31st.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow have now come to a close and we send a huge congratulations to all of the athletes who competed. Thank you for representing Australia!
Here on the Gold Coast we are the proud hosts of the 2018 Commonwealth Games! It's the 5th time that Australia will host the games, but the first time for the Gold Coast! All of the action will be held from the 4-15 April 2018 at various sporting venues across the Gold Coast.
Sports on the games program include Aquatics (Swimming and Diving) - Athletics (Track & Field, Marathon, Walks) - Badminton - Basketball (M/W), - Boxing, - Cycling (Track, Road, Mountain Bike), - Gymnastics (Artistic/Rhythmic) - Hockey (M/W), - Lawn Bowls - Netball (W) - Rugby 7s - Shooting (Clay Target, Fullbore Rifle, Pistol, Target Rifle) - Squash - Table Tennis - Triathlon - Weightlifting - Wrestling (Freestyle).
Pro-surfer and Gold Coast local, Mick Fanning, is also pushing for surfing to be included in the games. What better location to launch surfing into the Commonwealth Games than the Gold Coast! Fingers crossed Mick.
